Weston's Fascination with his Tongue!

He almost sounds like he is wining, but it is still funny.

He's Got the Giggles

We had the opportunity to spend Christmas with my family in Albuquerque, NM. Weston and I went down a week early on December 18th and Doug joined us on the 22nd. We had a loads of fun and Weston received muchos muchos regalos from his aunts and uncles and grandparents. He told me to to tell you all thank you for him. This video was taken at my parents' house. I was sliding on the hardwood floors toward him.

Merry Christmas little elf!

This was taken at Walgreens. I couldn't resist.
It was too funny. This is Weston's Uncle Adam (Doug's Bro)
Don't worry, Weston is verrrrry excited to see
his Uncle Ronnie!

Just too dang cute...

Just chillin' in the rocking chair - no story behind it. One cute story though: Doug was playing with Weston. Weston has started saying dadadada but he hasn't connected that Doug is Da Da yet. Doug said, "Actually, Weston, it's pronounced "Dad". hehe

Mooja & Weston Becoming Best Friends

Ok the first pic is posed, but honestly the second one is not! I was holding Weston and Mooja came and sat between my legs. Weston just grabbed him! Mooja was so well behaved while Weston pulled on his ears and tortured him. He really likes our friends Jodi & Jesse's pomeranian mix because he is so furry.

Sleeeeepy Bug!

We went to Vegas to visit Doug's grandparents in Boulder City. We also got to see Grandma and Granpda Oswald (my mom's parents). I hope they send me pictures of that because I know they took some ;) Anyways this picture was taken shortly after we came home. I was trying to keep Weston awake so he would sleep well that night. But he fell asleep on his own. The little bugger.

Jabber, Jabber, Jabber

Yeah, it's about 6 am in this video. He was crying a lot so his voice got kind of scratchy. But he loved the sound of it. It's not scratchy anymore, but he hasn't lost the zeal of discovery. Unfortunately, my memory card filled up so we will put another one up soon that is longer. Enjoy the sweet sounds of Weston's voice.

Just really good lookin' pics

The first picture is Weston's first Sunday back at church. He got a lot of attention in that sweater...but sweater or no sweater, that's not really unusual. He looked like such a stud. The next picture is actually just later that day. He illustrates his skills of rolling over for us. And he isn't smiling at his mom, it's Doug that caught his attention.

Not a Briggs Bootie...

Weston looks like his mom in every way except three. He has his dad's hands, feet, and you guessed it, his behind.

Ain't nothin' gonna break his stride!

As you can see, Weston was in the process of learning to roll over prior to our hospital admission. Now he rolls over with ease since his belly has decreased in size. While in the hospital, many nurses commented on his ability to hold his bottle. One in particular said, "I have been a nurse for 11 years and have never seen a baby use his hands the way he does at his age." Many of you may say that is because he has "ginormous" hands. But in reality, it's because he is a genius.

Christmas Comes Early For Weston...

We got a new toy for Weston. He didn't really know what to do with it at first, but now he really likes it. It lights up and plays music. We also wanted to show Lisa that Weston likes his new outfit she got him :)

Weston & Grandma

My mom came out for the full three weeks to help me handle the nights at the hospital. She was so great and we couldn't have done it without her. Doug stayed a night and Kristen, my sister, stayed a night. Dad even came out for the weekend and pulled a double all-nighter for us! The second picture is my fave fave fave ever! The third picture, mom is trying to teach Weston "bones" and failing to keep his attention.

Many Hospital Visits

The first picture was just his lab tests. It was a rough day prior to being admitted to the hospital. He had nightmares for a few days after and he woke up every hour for three nights. The second picture is when he got his liver and gall bladder biopsies during the first week we were at the hospital. I use it as a measure for how big his belly was compared to the last picture and also how yellow he was. The third picture was just after his Kasai procedure. He had two tubes in his nose, one in his mouth, one in his stomach, one in his bladder, one in his neck and an IV in his hand and foot. Just after surgery, the one in his mouth came out because he was breathing so well on his own. The next day, they took out the one in his bladder, neck, and the IV's came out and one permanent one, a picc line, went in and we were allowed to leave PICU, pediatric instensive care, and move out into a private room (it was like a suite! the only one in the infant unit with its own shower). The fourth day of his surgery, Weston tore out the tube in his nose which went all the way down to his stomach. They said this one could come out after Weston had a bowel movement so we were worried that they might have to put it back in. However, Weston was unconcerned: he had a poopy diaper. On post-op day 11, everyone's nerves were pretty shot and so were Weston's. He tore out the tube in his stomach. If he hadn't I don't know if we would have gotten to go home. We spent three weeks in the hospital with one weekend break after week 1.

Compliments of Aunt Lisa

I thought this link would help elaborate on Weston's condition Biliary Atresia. Let us know if you have any questions. This link was provided by Weston's Aunt Lisa and explains everything fairly well. The only thing I would mention is the statistics concern babies under 3 months of age. However, we suspect Weston did have some bile flow prior to the Kasai. He had colored stool and the symptoms were slower to develop than most. So things are looking up and we have a very happy, giggling, active, and much more comfortable little boy!

Pause on the Blog...& Life for that matter!

Just as an update...we won't have too many pictures up for the next little while. Little Weston has a liver disease called Biliary Atresia. We have been in the hospital for the last two weeks going home sometime this next week. Grandma and Grandpa Briggs and mom and dad are taking turns staying at the hospital with the tough little guy. But Weston is doing much better than the doctors expected for discovering the disease two months later than they usually do. We love you all and appreciate all the support, love, and prayers we have received. They have been needed and felt. We'll keep you updated and hope to return to our normal lives soon!
